Embroidery Chart

The above is a small portion of an embroidery chart I have been working on for a few months. I not only wanted to practice these stitches, I also wanted to see what they looked like when I stitched them. As you can probably tell, I'm very new to embroidery (this is in fact the first time I've done most of these stitches).
Stitches on the chart
- Running stitch
- Whipped running stitch
- Backstitch
- Whipped backstitch
- Stem stitch
- Portuguese knotted stem stitch
- Coral stitch
- Outline stitch
- Couching
- Split stitch
- Herringbone stitch
- Double herringbone stitch
- Cretan stitch
- Chevron stitch
- Fern stitch
These are only the first few stitches on the chart. I think there are far too many to list (about 50). I am deeply in debt to Mary Corbet's Needle 'N Thread for posting "how to" videos on the different embroidery stitches.
So why make this giant chart? I have a much larger project in mind. I want to make a redwork quilt only in a nontraditional format. I think redwork quilts are very beautiful and have a nice touch of elegance to them. However, instead of the normal outline (Kensington stitch), I want to use a large variety of stitches. That's where this chart comes in. I can look at the design and then look at the stitches on the chart and decide which one will look the best. Well in theory anyway. I'm still very early in the planning stages of this project. I do know that I want it to be Japanese inspired designs. I have most of the designs already picked out. I haven't decided on colorwork or regular red color threads.
I'll let you know my progress as I get further into the project.
